BMW, Daimler and VW escape costly concessions in diesel deal

BMW, Daimler and VW agreed to update the engine software of more than 5 million diesel cars in Germany to reduce NOx emissions, avoiding costly hardware fixes. They will also offer trade-in rebates on older models that cannot be updated.
