BMW reaches battery deal worth nearly $5 billion with China’s CATL

BMW plans to source 4 billion euros’ ($4.7 billion) worth of battery cells from Chinese battery maker CATL over the next few years, with 1.5 billion euros’ worth coming from the supplier’s future plant in Erfurt, Germany.
