Ford is using SEMA week to make a very explicit and structured point about its performance parts business. The F-150 Raptor R project vehicle with more than 900 horsepower is not a stunt. It is a signal: Ford wants to own official, warrantied, legal aftermarket power again at the highest end of its truck portfolio, the same way the Maverick 300T concept is signaling intent at the entry end of that same portfolio.
