Germany’s Merkel would back cutting EU tariffs on U.S. car imports

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she would back lowering EU tariffs on U.S. car imports, responding to an offer from Washington to abandon threatened levies of 20 percent on European cars in return for concessions.
