Self-driving cars in twice as many crashes, but …
Self-driving cars might be more accident prone than their conventional counterparts, but that’s not necessarily their fault. A pair of researchers from the University of Michigan analyzed public records related to crashes involving autonomous cars and, while emphasizing the results are only estimates, says the vehicles are twice as likely to be involved in crashes than ones driven by humans.
