Sorry, Apple fans: You won’t get a self-driving car with spherical wheels

The maker of the world-beating iPhone is throwing in the towel on trying to reinvent the wheel — when it comes to building its own self-driving car, at least. The New York Times reports that Apple has drastically scaled back its ambitions to build its own autonomous vehicle and will instead focus its efforts on developing a self-driving shuttle service using its own technology integrated with a commercial vehicle.
