Takata slapped with record $70M fine in airbag scandal

The federal government took unprecedented actions Tuesday to help prevent Takata airbags from further harming motorists. The Department of Transportation announced a $70 million fine of the global airbag supplier for its role in stymying a government investigation into airbags that explode and spew vehicle occupants with lethal amounts of metal shrapnel.
