VW explains fixes for 1.6, 2.0 diesels in Europe

The German Federal Motor Transport Authority has accepted Volkswagen’sproposed repairs for the 1.6- and 2.0-liter versions of its emissions-cheating EA189 diesel engine in Europe. The 1.6 will need a software and hardware upgrade to be compliant, but the 2.0 will only require a software update.
