VW ID3 electric car exceeds expectations but trails Tesla Model 3 orders

Orders for the new ID3 electric car exceeded Volkswagen’s expectations on the first day of reservations as more than 10,000 people paid 1,000 euros ($1,120) to secure the hatchback. But this failed to beat rival Tesla, whose Model 3 took more than 115,000 deposits within the first 24 hours after orders opened.
