VW shrugs off $1.12 billion legal hit with higher quarterly SUV sales

Sales of SUVs helped Volkswagen Group soften a 1 billion euro ($1.12 billion) legal charge relating to emissions cheating and a drop in quarterly earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of 3.9 billion euros compared with 4.2 billion a year earlier.
