Xiaomi established a new department to explore new technologies for its next-generation vehicles, reporting directly to the company's CEO, Lei Jun. This sounds a lot like Ford's skunkworks team tasked by CEO Jim Farley to develop the next generation of electric vehicles that will secure the company's survival in the EV era.
